Director & Choreographer

Dixon Bowles

Teacher. Choreographer. Director.
Building a new home for dance in Orlando.

I trained at Utah Valley University and got hired by Disney Jr. Live before I finished my degree. I performed with professional dance companies in New York. And then I moved to Florida and decided to build.

For nine years, I ran the competitive dance program at a major Central Florida studio as the sole choreographer, sole director, and the only person in the room every single day. I built it from 9 dancers to 23 across five competition seasons. My dancers earned titles at Groove, Inferno, Tremaine, and StarQuest. The program won ADCC Studio of Excellence. I choreographed every piece, ran every rehearsal, directed every competition weekend.

Outside the studio, I toured nationally as a Tour Director with Fly Dance Competition. I've judged competitions, taught masterclasses across the country, and choreographed for musical theatre. I know this industry from every angle as a performer, a teacher, a director, and a judge.

DWD is what happens when the person who built your program decides to build their own. Two programs, one standard. An entire season designed, directed, and choreographed by one artistic director. DWD ProSeries for young competitive dancers ages 5 to 19 who want real training. DWD Collective for adults 18 and up who want real choreography and real stage time. Come find out what it means to Dance With Dixon.

What I Bring

Teaching Philosophy

I believe in rigor with heart. Every class should challenge you, every rehearsal should push you, and every piece of choreography should mean something. I don't do filler. I don't do lazy. But I also don't do fear-based teaching. My dancers work hard because they want to — because they feel invested, not intimidated.

Two Programs, One Standard

  • DWD ProSeries — full competitive training across all styles (jazz technique, ballet, contemporary, lyrical, hip hop, tap, acro, musical theatre) for dancers ages 5–19. Three tracks. Not a studio — a dedicated training company.
  • DWD Collective — modern dance company for adults 18+. No audition required. All levels welcome. Weekly classes and real performances.
  • Every class designed by a working director and choreographer — not pulled from a syllabus
  • Choreography that tells stories — every piece has a purpose

Modern / Contemporary Dance for Adults 18+
No audition. No experience required. Just show up ready to move.

What We Are

I didn't start DWDC to run a drop-in class. I started it because adults 18 and up deserve what competitive dancers get — real training, real choreography, a real stage. Whether you danced your whole life or you've never set foot in a studio, this is your company.

We train together weekly, building technique and artistry through modern dance fundamentals. And we perform together — taking real choreography to real stages.

No audition. No experience required. Just show up ready to move.

The Experience

6:00 – 7:30 PM

Modern Technique / Movement

Floor work, alignment, weight shifts, phrase work. This is where we build the foundation — how you move, how you connect to the floor, how you use your body as an instrument. Open to drop-ins.

7:30 – 8:30 PM

Choreography Rehearsal

We learn and refine original choreography for upcoming performances. This is where the technique meets the storytelling. For company members and those preparing for shows.

Current Season

We're building toward our very first performance as a company — the Amusing Spaces showcase, June 2026, at Orlando Ballet School. I'm choreographing original work for a real stage and I cannot wait to put this group in front of an audience.

Rehearsal dates resuming mid-April. Get on the list.

Who This Is For

  • Adults 18+ who danced growing up and want to get back into it
  • Adults who never danced but have always wanted to
  • Movers, yogis, athletes looking for a new creative outlet
  • Anyone who wants to perform on stage (yes, really)
  • You don't need to be "good enough." You just need to show up.

Ages 5–19 | Competitive Training

ProSeries

Elite dance training for the convention and competition circuit
Season 1 begins August 2026.
Express Interest

The Program

ProSeries is a full-spectrum competitive training program for dancers ages 5 to 19. Three tracks — Prep, Elite, and Pro — each built around serious technique, artistry, and performance. This is your dancer's home for training, not an add-on.

Dancers train across all styles — jazz technique, ballet, contemporary, lyrical, hip hop, tap, acro, musical theatre — with an emphasis on jazz and ballet technique as the foundation for everything else. Every class is designed by a working choreographer and director, not pulled from a syllabus.

This isn't a recreational program and it isn't a studio. ProSeries is a company — a dedicated training environment built to develop well-rounded, professional-level dancers who are as strong in artistry as they are in technique.

Why ProSeries

I spent five years as a competition director inside the traditional studio model. I saw what worked. I saw a lot more of what didn't. ProSeries is what I'd build if I could start from zero — so that's exactly what I'm doing.

Not a Studio

Traditional studios make their money from recreational classes and little kids. The competitive team is an afterthought — a revenue add-on, not the mission. ProSeries flips that. Competitive training is the mission. Every hour, every dollar, every decision is pointed at developing serious dancers.

Built by a Director

Every class, every rehearsal, every piece of choreography — that's me in the room. Not a guest teacher, not a rotating staff. I built this program and I'm the one running it. That's what "Dance With Dixon" means.

Full Training in All Styles

Jazz technique. Ballet. Contemporary. Lyrical. Hip hop. Tap. Acro. Musical theatre. Your dancer won't specialize too early or miss entire genres. The emphasis is on jazz and ballet technique — the foundation that makes everything else possible — with real depth across every style.

Artists, Not Just Competitors

Trophies are great. I've won plenty. But I'm not training your kid to collect hardware — I'm training them to walk into any room and be the most prepared, most expressive, most professional dancer there. The trophies follow.
